1589 is a family-friendly Scouting community based in Madison Heights, Michigan. We offer inclusive Scouting experiences for boys and girls ages 5–20 through our Cub Scout Pack, Boys and Girls Troops, and also a Co-ed Venturing Crew.

Founded in 1961 and proudly chartered by Edmonson Elementary PTO (Peek) under the Michigan Crossroads Council, Troop 1589 has a long-standing mission of building leadership, fostering a love for the outdoors, and serving our community.
Troop 1589 welcomes all eligible youth and adult leaders, regardless of gender, race, ethnic background, sexual orientation, or gender identification, who are willing to accept Scouting’s values. We believe that all youth deserve a safe space meant solely for them to grow and succeed.
We currently have scouts in our troop from: Madison Heights, Royal Oak, Troy, Warren, Ferndale, Hazel Park, Oak Park, Chesterfield, Fraser, and more! It also doesn’t matter what school you go to or what religious affiliation you are.
